Parent of a Child Student visa
The Parent of a Tier 4 Child Student visa allows one parent to come to the UK to care for the child (or children) studying at an eligible educational institution under a Child Student visa. The visa applicant has to meet eligibility requirements and provide supporting documents to be eligible.
Parent of a Child Student Visa
The Parent of a Child Student visa route is for non-EEA parents to accompany their child aged between 4 and 11 years old who is attending an independent school in the UK.
The parent can live in the UK till the Child Student visa expires or they reach 12 years of age, whichever is sooner. Only one parent can come to care for the children attending school in the UK. The other parent can come to the UK for short visits under different routes.
The visa is granted initially for 6 to 12 months and can be extended till the child turns 12. The parent has to leave the UK once the child reaches 12 years of age.
While being in the UK, the parent can not
- Study, do paid work, or start a business
- Make the UK your permanent home
- Apply for Public Funds, State Pension, and other benefits
- Switch to a different visa type
- Bring close relatives or other family members along with you
Eligibility Requirements for a Parent of a Child Student visa
The visa applicant must meet the following requirements to qualify
- You are aged 18 years or older on the date of application
- You are the parent of a child who is applying for permission to stay as a Child Student at the same time
- The other parent does not intend to come to the UK
- The Child Student is aged between 4 and 11 years on the date of application
- The parent plans on living with the Child Student during their stay in the UK
- You have your main home outside the UK and do not intend to make the UK your permanent home
- You must have sufficient funds to maintain you and your child in the UK

- Current passport or valid travel document
- Proof that you meet financial requirements
- Evidence of permanent home outside the UK
- TB test results, if required
- Other relevant evidence to show child studies in the UK
